Climate Emergency

In January 2020 the council agreed a climate emergency declaration, and in 2022 we published our Climate Emergency Plan detailing the council's plans to tackle the climate emergency, including decarbonisation of human activity and protecting flora and fauna for future generations.

We include net-zero goals in our forthcoming Neighbourhood Development Plan and our Open Space, Sport and Recreation Plan.

We work with South Hams District Council and Devon County Council to support their commitment to make our region net-zero carbon.

Sustainable South Hams is a Community Interest Company which provides a lot of helpful information and organise regular events throughout the area.

In March 2024 we organised a Net-Zero Carbon event with Greener Ugborough Parish focussed on helping parishioners identify steps they could take to help the parish meet our goals.

Local Councils and South West Net Zero Hub have produced a detailed guide to ‘retrofitting’ your home to save energy.

We are actively investigating options for installing public EV charging points within the parish.
