Invasive species
You can help control invasive species in our parish by learning to identify and remove them, reporting them online, and taking part in locally organised removal events.
Invasive non-native species are one of the top five threats to global biodiversity, and can even harm our health. Once established, they can be extremely costly and difficult to control.
Organised Events
We are focussing on the Himalayan Balsam in the Lud Brook valley and you can help us Balsam Bash on these dates in 2025:
- Saturday June 21 2025- 10 am Bittaford Playground
- Saturday June 28 2025- 10 am Bittaford Playground
- Sunday July 6 2025 – 10 am Bittaford Playground
We have a supply of gardening gloves but feel free to bring your own! Please wear suitable footwear (boots, wellies) and long trousers and sleeved shirts to protect against brambles. If it is sunny, then bring hats and suncream.
